ME

Welcome!

Whether you found this page by accident or you followed a very precise thread that is not important. I am  anyway happy that you are here.

I am Silvia and by the moment I discovered ceramics, and the feeling of clay on my hands, my life has changed. I haven't always been a potter. My education led me to the world of architecture where I discovered the balance of forms but also the mathematics and physics that regulate them. My work as an interior designer has taught me how to design with care, to combine space with matter and to create harmony. But ceramics brought me back to simplicity, in the things I do, in what I am and in my relationship with the world that surrounds me.

THE STUDIO

My studio is CONE7STUDIO and it is located in Tuscany. If you are a ceramist this name will not surprise you at all, for everyone else it may sounds strange, and for me, well, it's the only possible name for my studio. The space is small but there is everything I need to work with ceramics, glaze, fire and run workshops. I just have to be careful with the max number of people who are there at the same time but for the rest, and for the moment, it performs its function perfectly.

HOW IT STARTED

In the most unexpected way. It was Christmas 2015 and for fun we decided, together with some friends, to engage everyone with a committment for the coming year. Mine, a bit surprising, was to make a set of ceramic coffee cups. I didn't know how complex it would be and how much it would change my life. It took me 6 months to face the challenge and a few days of intimacy with ceramics to understand that I would never abandon that incredible matter that was taking shape in my hands. I decided to take a class at La Meridiana International School of Ceramics in Tuscany. Then I bought the pottery wheel. And my first kiln. I went to Latvia for 3 months as an apprentice at Laima Ceramics. I filled the house with objects. Then the houses of friends. And finally customers came. Followed by students. In retrospective, it seems that everything can be lined up on the fingers of one hand but thruth is that 5 years have passed.

MY PASSIONS

My life is not only about ceramic, even if it comes before other things. Well, I wouldn't say it is a matter of order, ceramic is more like the substratum of my life on which everything else finds the right place. Like the love for nature, the overwhelming need to respect it and live in harmony. Or like horses, the animals I got in tune with since childhood. And finally, travel and discovery, or better say the experience of other cultures, with their foods, colors, smells.

A BIT MORE

In 2014 and 2015 I lived in Australia, a beautiful land that I still carry with me. There, I worked as a stable hand at the Sydney racecourse and as a barista at the University of New South Wales. And that leads to another good thing that can happen if you visit me: you can get to try my soy cappuccino.
